Tomorrow’s City Council meeting will be an important one for the tree canopy in New Orleans. Parks & Parkways will be presenting their very inadequate draft of an ordinance at 1PM in the City Council Chamber. They will be asking the Council to pass it at tomorrow’s meeting. We’re asking the City Council to defer action on this proposed ordinance so that tree advocates and the Department can have meaningful discussions about strengthening its provisions. We asked Parks & Parkways to join us in making that deferral request, but they declined. They are bound and determined to pass this ordinance on Thursday.
